Seacoast Credit Union

Seacoast Credit Union was started in 1966 when the credit union's founder, Peter Brooks, had a vision to provide a cooperative means of saving and lending to the employees at SAU #21 school district. He and the members of the first Board of Directors each purchased shares, and thus began the Seacoast Credit Union with the first location being an office in the Superintendent's Office.

From these humble beginnings the credit union grew steadily, becoming a full service institution and eventually moving to their own location at 728 Lafayette Road. During this time, the credit union's charter was expanded to serve various business groups in the Seacoast area.

In 1996, the credit union moved into their present building at 887 Lafayette Road, thus allowing for growth into the 21st century. Shortly after this, in January 1997, the credit Union converted their charter from Federal to State in order to maintain the ability to add new members from their existing member groups. Today, anyone living or working within 25 miles of a Seacoast Credit Union branch is eligible for membership. In 1998, Seacoast Credit Union, expanding once again to meet the growing needs of its members, added a branch in Seabrook. In 1999, another branch was created at Winnacunnet High School.

Throughout the years one thing remained constant: the vision to be not the largest, but the best credit union it could be. And today, more than ever, all of us at Seacoast Credit Union are dedicated to providing the best financial services possible to our members.
