Under general supervision from the Manager of Housekeeping, perform a variety of skilled or semi-skilled housekeeping tasks designed to provide and maintain a safe, clean, and healthy living and working environment for residents and assigned staff.

Shifts available, Sunday through Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday, 1st shift. There are eleven positions to be filled.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Perform tasks related to providing a clean and healthy environment in residential hall bathrooms and public restrooms, including approved methods of handling and cleaning blood-borne pathogens and other bodily fluids.

Perform tasks related to the cleaning of carpet floor coverings, including spot cleaning and extraction. Perform tasks related to the maintenance of floors and other surfaces, including vacuuming, mopping, and washing. Perform tasks related to the renovation of floor surfaces, including application of stripping/finish chemicals, scrubbing, scraping, and buffing.

Operate and provide operator maintenance for automatic scrubbers, power sweepers (including rider-type), vacuums and buffers used in connection with building cleaning.

Use approved methods and formulas to mix cleaning chemicals for application. Store and dispose of chemicals according to approved guidelines.

Collect and remove all waste material, sort recyclable materials, and discard in outdoor collection bins.

Respond to housekeeping calls and/or requests for service as needed. Report all items that require maintenance/repair.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: HS or equivalent.

Acceptable minimum years of experience: 2 years.

Other minimum qualifications: 1. Ability to operate power cleaning equipment. 2. Ability to respond to emergency situations. 3. Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy work. 4. Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment as necessary. 5. Ability to read English. 6. Ability to interact with varied client needs.
